An Aussie legend causes a stir in Perth!

The Perth Motorcycle and Scooter Show is proud to support the motorcycling community, and this year was no exception.

A charity ride was held on the Saturday morning to raise funds for YouthFocus – a West Australian organization that deals with mental health issues in teenagers. The ride was headed up by Aussie sporting legend Mick Doohan!

“We had to have a big name person lead the charity ride, and they don’t come much bigger than Mick Doohan!” Peter said.

And it proved successful with more almost 1500 bikes participating in the 2013 ride from Stirling to the Claremont Showgrounds. The sights were caught on film by Channel 7’s Sunday Night program which will present a special on Mick Doohan on November 24; plus the sounds of so many bikes was heard for miles. Nothing like the thundering rumble of more than 1000 motorcycles to make you pay attention!

“The ride was a bigger success than we had imagined, and it was a little chaotic parking all the bikes, but we got there in the end,” Peter said.

“Everyone who participated enjoyed themselves, and we were extremely pleased to have raised nearly $20,000 for YouthFocus, which is a huge effort.”

Mick Doohan also appeared at the Show to speak onstage to an eager audience of adoring fans, and then signed autographs before he had to leave.

YouthFocus organisers were overwhelmed with the response of the charity ride and thanked Show organisers for such a massive fund raising effort.
